Warehouse

Warehouse refers to the logical grouping of all storage facilities and areas managed by the WMS and the directly connected transport facilities and traffic areas as well as work stations, compartments, areas, silos, tanks or other facilities that can accommodate stored goods for the purpose of storage, handling or order processing. This also includes the incoming and outgoing goods facilities and areas. Usually, a warehouse is assigned to a location, i. e. a coherent property. In special cases, however, connected warehouse processes (for example, storage and retrieval) can extend over several properties. If several such warehouse locations are closely linked to each other from an organizational point of view, this is referred to as a warehouse group, which can be represented in a WMS as one logical warehouse.
