Chaotic warehousing

Chaotic warehousing (also known as “dynamic warehousing”) is a method of warehousing and the intelligent counterpart to the fixed storage system. With chaotic warehousing, an article to be put away is assigned a currently available storage location at goods receipt. Although a certain article does not have a fixed storage location, this does not mean that this method is completely “chaotic” and without any system - on the contrary! For a warehouse to work according to this method, it must be controlled by a warehouse management software. Using an intelligent strategy, the WMS analyses, based on the characteristics of the article and the existing storage locations, which storage location is most suitable and assigns it to the article. A warehouse can be operated with chaotic stock management, fixed bin assignment or a mixture of both stock management methods.
