Programmable logic controller (PLC)

A programmable logic controller (PLC) is an electronic module at subsystem level which is used for control and regulation tasks of automated components, e.g. conveyor technology or storage and retrieval systems. Basically, it is a device with specialized input and output interfaces. It can control, monitor and influence production and transport processes via sensors and actuators. For the tasks described, there are now also controllers based on an industrial PC (IPC) or software solutions.
