Returns are return shipments of deliveries that are sent back to the supplier by the recipient of the goods. In industries / companies with low return rates, returns can be treated as “normal” deliveries in the WMS. Additional functional support in this area is e.g. the initiation of inspection work and subsequent processing steps (e.g. special storage, reconditioning, scrapping/destruction). In industries / companies with high return rates, e.g. in mail order, the return process becomes a core process of logistical processing, which can have impacts on many process steps in the WMS.
