Bypass

A bypass describes the direct delivery of goods from the supplier directly to the customer without having put them into storage beforehand. In contrast to the classic supply chain, the goods are transported directly from goods receipt to outgoing goods. Reasons for this can be that a order picking is backlogged and has to be finished or it serves to balance quantity fluctuations. If necessary, the goods are picked up at the customer's order via a transshipment point so that they are made available to the customer in the “bypass”.
