A host is described as a superior system that is used for the central processing of data. Similar to an ERP system, it mainly handles commercial tasks that use data such as item or customer master data, stock and orders for this purpose. Other computer systems also have access to a host system and it is available not only to local but also to external (remote) users. In addition, the host system is in constant contact with the WMS or similar systems in order to efficiently link the data with regard to the available resouces (machines, personnel, etc.).
