Hazardous material

Hazardous material is defined as a substance, an item or a formulation that represents a hazard to humans, animals, or the environment when transported incorrectly. The tasks for hazardous materials management include safe transport of hazardous materials. To this end, specific arrangements are necessary to secure the goods for transport. These can include attaching safety signs to the transport unit, creating accompanying documents and checking quantity restrictions for hazardous materials based on the means and type of transport (transport by rail, road, air or sea). For multi-mode transports, the requirements for each individual transport section must be considered.
